The Snow Dragon at Birmingham Hippodrone

A couple of days ago we were invited to a performance of The Snow Dragon at The Patrick Theatre which is part of the Birmingham Hippodrone!

When we arrived my little boy was treated to some Christmas crafts where he made and decorated a little wooden reindeer complete with a bell and a candle holder too. He was very proud of his creations!

We then found our seats in the theatre which was really ideal for little ones. The rows were spaced well and each level was placed high enough so that the little ones would have a perfect view of the performance.

The Snow Dragon performance then began which captivated my little boy from the start! The story follows the adventure of Billy the goat who endeavours to pick berries to leave for the Snow Dragon who he believes will visit that night and leave him a present. After being advised by his parents that being ‘number one’ is the most important goal to have, he sets off and with the help of his friends and some wolves, learns some very valuable lessons about kindness and sharing. The performance consists of three actors who seamlessly change into the different characters throughout. There is singing, audience participation and plenty of laughs!

The show is 55 minutes long which I found was ideal for my little boy.  I won’t give away the ending but I will tell you that there was something a little bit magical thrown in too!

After the performance, my little boy was able to meet the cast who were so lovely to him and invited him onto the stage!

We would really recommend The Snow Dragon! Tickets are available here
