Sustainable quality toys from Jaques of London

Recently, I was introduced to Jaques of London. They stock a vast array of high quality, handmade wooden toys. Jaques of London are a toys and games manufacturer first established in 1795. The company is family run, having been passed down from father to son for eight generations. Jaques have been responsible for inventing some very well known games including Snakes & Ladders, Ludo and Tiddly Winks to name just a few!

The toys at Jaques of London have clearly been created with care and attention to detail and this makes them such lovely gifts for little ones. Further more, they are much more sustainable and eco-friendly than the plastic toys that the market is currently saturated with and this is great for anyone wanting to find more environmentally friendly toys for their children.

I was delighted to be given the opportunity to explore some of the toys from Jaques of London. I couldn't wait to introduce my little one to them. I opted for the London Bus and the Dinosaur Carpark which I just knew he would be delighted with. He loves pushing toy vehicles about and also loves dinosaurs too!

When the items arrived, what stuck me first of all was how beautiful the packaging was. It's both stylish and classy making it a lovely gift to present to a child.

Wooden London Bus

This London Wooden Bus makes a beautiful, fun and engaging toy for any little one. It is made with FSC approved wood which is robust, sturdy and smooth. It has chunky wheels so little ones will have lots of fun moving it around. The bus is brightly coloured, perfect for capturing the attention of children and it's styled like the iconic red London buses. On the side of the bus are pictures of some of London's most famous landmarks which is a great way of getting little ones to learn more and discuss the city.

The bus also comes with characters which can be placed on, off and around the bus. They slot into the seats on both the upstairs and downstairs of the bus and this is great for developing hand eye coordination for young children. The characters are all uniquely designed in different outfits and represent different ethnicities, ages and genders. Some of the characters are wearing work outfits which is a great way to introduce children to the types of jobs people can do. The wooden characters are chunky and just the right size for little hands!

The bus is perfect for imaginative and creative play and I will definitely look to purchase this again in the future for other little ones to enjoy.

Wooden Car Park

Next up is this delightful multi-storey Wooden Car Park complete with 6 toy cars that can travel down the winding ramps. Little children, including my own little boy, find it utterly mesmerising watching the car travel down and this helps them to learn about cause and effect. Older children like my older boys, also love watching the cars travel down the ramps and they can also incorporate the car park into imaginary play, for example, when they are creating a pretend town!

The car park is robust, sturdy and chunky which ensures it stays upright as children learn to carefully place the cars at the top platform. It is painted in bright, bold colours with a racetrack design on it.

The cars are a good size for little hands and are easy for children to move around on and off the carpark. These are also in bold colours which is great for capturing their attention.

I have been so impressed with the toys from Jaques of London. There is a huge array of high quality, long lasting and beautifully crafted toys for a variety of different ages. I'm looking forward to searching for toys for 2 year olds soon when my toddler approaches his birthday.

I'm a big fan of Jaques of London, they have some gorgeous gifts for little ones which come beautifully packaged and what's more, the prices are affordable too. It's a huge thumbs up from us!
